Winner of the Tokyo International Guitar Competition, Marco Del Greco is regarded as one of the leading classical guitar players of his generation.

Born in 1982 in Rome, where he received a Master’s Degree at the Conservatorio “Santa Cecilia” in the class of Carlo Carfagna, where he graduated cum laude with an additional honorable mention.
Later he moved to Basel, Switzerland, where he pursued his studies with Stephan Schmidt at the Musik-Akademie der Stadt – Hochschule für Musik, receiving a Master’s Degree in concert performance with distinction.

He won the first prizes at the 53rd Tokyo International Guitar Competition (2010), “Alirio Diaz” (2005), “Nicola Fago” (2001), and the second prize at “Mauro Giuliani” International Guitar Competition (2006) and many others.

He performed and gave masterclasses in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Russia, Italy, Ireland, Spain, France and Germany, in prestigious concert halls and musical institutions, including: Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, Bunka-kaikan, Nikkei Hall and Yamaha Hall Ginza in Tokyo, Minato Mirai Hall in Yokohama, Takefu International Music Festival, National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing, Hong Kong Arts Centre, Auditorium Conciliazione and Sala Casella in Rome, Drama Theater of Kaliningrad, Taipei National University of Arts, DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama of Dublin, Real Conservatorio Superior de Música of Madrid.

In 2014 he recorded for the german label NEOS the music for solo guitar by the japanese composers Toru Takemitsu and Toshio Hosokawa. The CD was highly acclaimed by critics, radios and magazines all over the world, such as: RAI Radio3, Süddeutsche Zeitung, NDR Kultur, KulturRadio, ORF OE1, Bravo Radio, Il Fronimo, Seicorde, Gendai Guitar, Fono Forum, Classic Voice. This CD has won the Golden Guitar Award as Best Recording of the Year in 2015 at 20th International Guitar Convention in Alessandria.

He is currently guitar professor at Conservatorio “Rinaldo Franci” in Siena (Italy).
